The Federal government has embarked on the process to create a National Food Security Strategy, Feeding Australia.
This opens a vital window for local governments, community food organisations, citizens and stakeholders from across the food system to come together to hear from each other, discuss the key issues, identify key shared needs and priorities, and engage directly with local, state and Federal policy makers.
Our Food Policy Forums connect food system changemakers, looks at what’s working on the ground, and turns shared challenges into collective action, collaboration and momentum.
Join us to hear from leading food system advocates and practitioners, including:
Simon Toohey (MC) - Masterchef finalist & founder of Geelong City Market
James McLennan - Farm My School
Nikki Hale & Louise Singleton - The Community Plate
Jayne Travers-Drapes and Anton van den Berg - Box Divvy
Alex Dekker - Alex Makes Meals
Erica Reeve - Deakin University
Chelsea McNab - Yarra Valley ECOSS
Savannah Supski - Just Food Collective
Almari van der Merwe - Cultivating Community

The City of Banyule is a local government area in Victoria, Australia in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Banyule's Urban Food Strategy was endorsed in 2023 and a stakeholder group continues to meet as part of the four-year action plan.
Box Divvy connects communities with Australian farmers and food producers, delivering fresh, seasonal fruit, vegetables and groceries. Members use a smart app to place weekly or fortnightly orders, customising orders and benefiting from collective buying. By shortening the supply chain, Box Divvy helps members save money and reduce food waste. Orders are collected from a neighbourhood Hub run by a local “Hubster,” who operates it as a small micro-business. Full price transparency allows members to see what farmers and wholesalers are paid and to learn more about the people who grow and produce their food across Australia.
