The annual Highlands Men's Smallgroup camp has become a must attend event for men of faith wanting to take a break from the never ending demands of our modern society.
Our theme is "Abide". What does it even mean to Abide? How does it feel? We will explore questions like "Do you hear from God", and "How do you hear from God?" So often as men we are having to "pretend" our way through things, "fake" it till we make it so that we still look the part in front of our wives, mates and children. Sometimes it is hard to know what you can agree with and what you need to condemn. Abiding in the Vine is the only true way of finding consistent clarity to the confusion that is thrown at us in our daily lives.
The camp experience has been described as a "renewal of the spirit", a "genuinely needed break" and even as a space where lives are changed. Come and enjoy the company of other faith filled men, doing things that blokes like to do, having conversations that generally do not happen around the kitchen table.
This year we will have an even bigger range of activities than ever before, try your hand at shooting an arrow from a bow, show your mates how fast you can chop a tree trunk, or if you are less physically inclined, maybe you can become the latest winner of the coveted camp Bible Quiz. Hear our engaging speakers as they sow into the lives of our men, sharing experiences and providing guidance in an intimate and safe space. This year will again feature our panel of men local to our church, sharing a bit about their lives, their thoughts and more importantly, how God stood for them when they couldn't stand themselves.
The event is fully catered with most of the food cooked over the never ending bonfire. Bring your own cutlery, non-alcoholic drinks, a camp chair and your own tent/swag/caravan. The gates open around midday on Friday the 11th of September, and camp officially closes on Sunday morning after an early breakfast so that we can go and share our leftover food on a BBQ with the congregation.
Bring your sons (16 or older), your mates, or any man that you think will benefit from a caring, safe and fun environment where you can take a load off, have fun and connect with likeminded, faith filled genuine men.
Note - The camp location has two wheel drive access, but for higher vehicles like utes. For those with low vehicles, there will be a 4 wheel drive ferry to the camp for you and your gear. Your vehicle will be a short distance away safely parked on private property.
